After a full career in the software industry as a programmer, analyst, project manager and Director, I am now teaching programming to college freshmen. In my spare time I enjoy reading about, learning, designing, and writing software. Solving interesting problems and learning new coding techniques is never boring.
After a long career in software, I now think of myself as an artist who works in software. The creative process used in dreaming, designing, and creating software is very similar to any artist who works in paints, clay, or music. We start with nothing and create something that may or may not be enjoyed by others. We learn from our successes and our failures. We improve. We suffer for our art. I plan to continue creating software for as long as I'm able to and enjoy doing so.
I love to read clear and easily understandable code. I salute all the fantastic programmers who have come before me and those who are still coding.
